Hello and welcome to CTC! We’ve made it our mission to find cool stuff and write about it on the internet. That might seem like an over simplification, but it’s true. Pretty hard to argue with, right?
Times Are Changing
In 1965, giant-brain and co-founder of Intel, Gordon Moore made a prediction that would become Moore’s Law. Moore observed that the number of components that fit onto a single integrated circuit would likely double every two years. Meaning every 2-years we could expect to see new technology that was twice as efficient, leading to increased speeds, data storage, and power. Moore’s Law has held true for more than 50 years. The effect of that consistent doubling is evident and on display all around us. It’s almost certain that your current cell phone has more processing power and storage than your first personal computer, that’s Moore’s law in action.
So why are we still watching TV the same way? Why are we watching our cable bill go up, year after year, while our level of service continues to decline?
If you’re like us (and you’re here reading this, so let’s assume you are), then the last few years have been a roller-coaster. The technology the way we watch TV and movies is nothing like it was 10 years ago.
Who is Cut The Cord?
We’re a group of tech insiders, writers, self-confessed geeks and TV obsessives fed up with the cable TV monopoly on entertainment. We’ve experienced the high-priced, poor customer service and outdated technology first-hand, and we’re fed up. Everything is changing, and that’s a good thing.
