Watch the Venture Bros. Without Cable

Full disclosure: I’m obsessed with The Venture Bros. Is a hit comedy show that has been running on the Adult Swim late night programming network since way back in 2003. The show follows the lives (And misadventures) of the Venture family – a highly dysfunctional family of oddballs. As any true fan of the show knows by now, the series has successfully run a full 6 seasons, with a 7th season on the way.

Whether you’re new to the series, or a long-time fan interested in re-watching your favorite episodes, you’re probably wondering where you can start watching it online – especially if you’re a cord cutter. As with most shows, there’s no shortage of options out there.

While there aren’t a lot of free offerings floating around the internet (Not legal ones, anyway), there are plenty that are going to be significantly cheaper (not to mention more convenient) than a cable subscription.

Legally Watch for Free

Before I get into specifics, I’ll quickly go over the (limited) free offerings. The official Adult Swim website is really the only place to legally watch any free Venture Bros. Content, and as of right now, they are only offering certain episodes of Season 6 for free – specifically, Episode 1, 6, 7, 8 & 9.

If you’re still subscribing to a cable plan, you’ll also have access to parts of Season 5, but you’re going to need a cable provider login to access those – Dish, DirecTV, etc.

With the free stuff out of the way, let’s get into some of the paid offerings.

On Demand  & Network Services

First, I’m going to cover some of the on demand and cord-cutting TV streaming services available right now (Such as Netflix for the former, and Sling TV for the latter), and whether or not they provide any Venture Bros. content.

  • Hulu: All 6 seasons (And all current episodes) are available on Hulu for streaming on demand, as part of their paid subscriptions. Their cheapest subscription is a “Limited Commercials” subscription that costs $7.99/month, but they also have a zero-commercial plan for $11.99/month. If you want to binge-watch the entire show (Within a month or two), a Hulu subscription will offer you the best value out of all the other watching options in this article.
  • Netflix: Sadly, Netflix doesn’t actually offer any on demand Venture Bros. episodes right now, though it’s available on Netflix DVD.
  • Amazon Prime Instant Video: Amazon Instant Video doesn’t offer any on demand episodes as part of their Prime subscription, but naturally you can order Blu-ray or DVD copies of the various seasons at a relatively low price directly from the Amazon website. Additionally, you can purchase individual episodes “A la Carte” – read on for more details on pricing and availability.
  • Sling TV: In both their $20/month “Sling Orange” package and their $25/month “Sling Blue” packages, you’ll get access to Cartoon Network (And, by extension, Adult Swim) TV streaming whenever you’d like. Sling TV also now includes Cloud DVR functionality, so you can record your favorite episodes to watch later.
  • PlayStation Vue: PlayStation Vue works pretty similarly to Sling TV (And other internet TV streaming services), and includes Cartoon Network/Adult Swim in all of its packages. So, if all you care about is the Venture Bros/Adult Swim, you’ll only need to shell out $29.99/month for their cheapest package. PS Vue does offer Cloud DVR – in fact, it was the first of the 3 services to do so.
  • DirecTV Now: As with the two previous online TV streaming services, DirecTV Now offers Cartoon Network in all of its packages. Having said that, it’s also the most expensive of the 3, and the least reliable, so choose carefully. DirecTV Now also does not offer any DVR functionality at all, cloud or otherwise.

A la Carte Services

If you only want a few individual episodes, or you simply prefer to actually own all of your favorite content (Digitally), your best bet will be to purchase them A la Carte – on a per-episode, or per-season basis.

To that end, here’s everything you need to know about current A la Carte Venture Bros. content availability.

Note: Fandango Now & the Google Play Store do not offer any A la Carte Venture Bros. content.
