How To Watch The 2018 SAG Awards Online Without Cable


The 24th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are here. The SAG Awards have been a major Hollywood event since 1995. The SAG Awards are considered to be a predictor of success at the Academy Awards. The awards have been aired on TNT since 1998. In 2007 TBS began to simulcast the event on TBS.

The inaugural SAG Awards took place in 1995 from Universal Studios’ Stage 12. The second SAG awards aired live from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Every other ceremony since then has been held at the Shrine Exposition Center.


On December 4, 2017, it was announced that the award show would have its first host ever in its twenty-four year history. Who is the first person to host the SAG Awards? It’s actress Kristen Bell.

The 2018 SAG Awards will air on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The festivities will be broadcast on both TNT and TBS.

How Are The Nominees Chosen?

Nominations for the awards come from two committees for film and television, which are selected randomly every year.  Each committee has 2100 members with the full membership available to vote for the winners

The Presenters

This year the ceremony will feature all female presenters. With Kristen Bell the first-ever host, and a line-up of all female presenters, It’s clear that this years SAG awards are dedicated to women. Presenters include:

  • Halle Berry
  • Olivia Munn
  • Marisa Tomei
  • Mandy Moore
  • Gina Rodriguez
  • Lupita Nyong’o
  • Dakota Fanning, and

There will be some men taking the stage to introduce clips of movies nominated for outstanding ensemble cast. Woody Harrelson, Daniel Kaluuya, and Sam Rockwell will be apart of the show.

The Lifetime Achievement Award


Morgan Freeman will be receiving the Highest award of the night. The Lifetime Achievement Award. On Sunday part of the ceremony will be dedicated to honoring the respected career of one of the most recognizable actors in the world. Freeman’s career has spanned decades and reached across many genres.

He became nationally known in 1971 when he joined educational children’s show The Electric Company. Over the years he’s delivered many memorable performances, winning awards along the way. He’s appeared in many iconic films such as:

  • The Shawshank Redemption
  • Million Dollar Baby
  • Unforgiven
  • The Dark Knight
  • Lean On Me

Just to name a few.

He’s being honored for his humanitarian contributions as well.  This includes support for Artists for a New South Africa and the Campaign for Female Education. In 1973, he co-founded the Frank Silvera Writers’ Workshop which advances up and coming African American playwrights.
