Since CES in 2016, there has been talk of Vidgo TV jumping to the streaming television marketplace to shake things up a bit but until recently, they have been pretty quiet. Vidgo is now live and in a “Soft Launch”/ Beta test of their platform. Here is everything we know so far about Vidgo (Updated 11/2/2018)…
What is Vidgo?
Vidgo is a over-the-top streaming television service, similar to Sling TV, DirecTV Now, fuboTV and Philo TV that plans to bring live TV and Sports streaming to various devices to replace cable. Vidgo is focusing on the under-served Latino streaming television market which could be a great niche for them to get their “foot in the door” and compete with some of the established streaming television services already out there.
When will Vidgo be available?
As of October 2018, Vidgo is in a “Soft Launch” / Beta testing phase and appear to have their initial packages and pricing set as well as some deals which we will outline below.
How much does Vidgo Cost?
Vidgo currently has 2 packages available, a base Latino package for $19.99/mo with 25 channels and a Latino Mas package for $29.99/mo for 35 channels.
Vidgo Latino Package – $19.99/mo
The Latino package includes 25 of the top Latino and Spanish language programming channels available including Univision, Unimas, Univision Deportes, Galavision and bein Sports en Espanol. For only $19.99/mo, it competes with well with Latino packages from Sling or DirecTV Now.
Vidgo Latino Mas Package – $29.99/mo
If you are looking for additional Latino channels, for an additional $10/mo, the Latino Mas package contains all the channels in the Latino base package plus additional channels like Bandamax, Univision Telenovelas, and De Pelicula.
Does Vidgo offer a free trial?
Yes but only for 3-days unlike the industry standard of 5 to 7-days. It also appears that customers will need to select their package of interest and sign-up with a valid credit card to start the trial similar to many of the other streaming television providers. After the initial 72 hours, their credit card will be billed unless you cancel during that period.
How many devices can I stream on at once?
Vidgo allows for 3 simultaneous streams between all of their compatible devices which are currently their Android app, iOS App or streaming online via web browser.
Vidgo is offering 3 different deals at launch to entice you to try the service out. You can see all the current offerings here.
The first deal is a BOGO (Buy One Get One) deal where you can purchase either Latino or Latino Mas plan for 1 month at regular price and get a second month for free. Use promo code: “BOGO” at checkout for this deal.
The second deal is if for the base Latino package only. You can get the package for $10/mo if you purchase 3-months in advance. This is a savings of almost 50% per month. Use promo code: “TV10” at checkout for this deal.
The third deal is also for the base Latino package only and allows you to purchase an entire year of service for only $99. A savings of almost 60%. Use promo code: “VIDGO99” at checkout for this deal.
There is no deadline for these deals, so they can disappear at anytime. If you are interested in Latino only streaming – these may be worth a shot.
We will have a full write-up of the Vidgo service, app interface, navigation, and more in the coming days and weeks but it is important to remember they are currently in Beta and there will be bugs and issues that will need to be addressed. The idea to focus on the Latino and Spanish-speaking streaming market is a good idea definitely helps Vidgo carve out a niche where they can be successful against some of the other seasoned streaming platforms.
