Tom Brady and the rest of the New England Patriots will have a chance to secure their third Super Bowl in four years when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars for the AFC Championship on Jan 21. The event starts at 3:05 EST and it will be broadcast live by CBS.

Sunday will also mark the 24th anniversary of Robert Kraft buying the Patriots.

The Patriots are heading into the divisional championship sporting a seven-game win streak. Sunday’s game will be the fifth time in seven years that New England has been part of the AFC Championship Game.

The Jaguars haven’t looked too shabby either as of late. Their defense was spectacular during the AFC Wildcard Games, holding the Buffalo Bills to only three points. Their offense proved they didn’t have to rely solely on their defense during their last outing, putting up 45 points, eliminating the Pittsburg Steelers from the 2018 NFL Playoffs.

Leonard Fournette was a big part of the Jaguars’ offense against the Steelers, rushing for 109 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Jaguars will need another big performance from Fournette to stay competitive against the Patriots.

New England head coach Bill Belichick expects him to be a focal point of Jacksonville’s offense on Sunday so it will be interesting to see the defensive schemes he comes up with to try and mitigate the damage done by the Jaguars’ leading scorer. The Patriots’ defense traditionally likes to sit on the edges, while the Jaguars are most effective running up the middle.

The Jaguars are not the only team that has been running the ball a lot recently.

The Patriots have morphed into a power-rushing team of sorts, using the running game to protect Brady who has been working with limited options. Rex Burkhead is expected to make his return to the field on Sunday, giving Belichick a second option to run the ball with besides Dion Lewis.

Lewis has been a big part of New England’s offense this season thanks to his improved running ability and ability to catch passes in the open field.

The Patriots are 7-0 against the Jaguars at home and their offense has been one of the most effective offenses all season long. It should be no surprise they will be the betting favorite heading into this contest.

The Jaguars defense did just enough during the Jaguars’ win against the Steelers, and they’ll need to play a lot better or risk losing their fourth consecutive postseason game in New England.

It’s a common saying in football that defenses win championships. We’ll get to find out if that is true on Sunday.
