We started with sixteen teams and fourteen series later we have finally arrived at our final destination: The 2017 NBA Finals. This year’s National Basketball Association Championship game features two of the league’s top teams, the Golden State Warriors, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. These two teams will face each other for the third straight time.
This is the seventh straight Finals appearance for LeBron James who is looking to bring a second championship to Cleveland. On the other end, Stephen Curry and the Warriors will be looking to upset James and avenge last year’s epic collapse after leading the series 3-1.

Ways to Stream
With cord cutting on the rise there are now several great ways to watch all the 2017 championship basketball action. Every game will be aired on ABC, which means cord cutters can use ABC Online with or without other popular services and devices such as PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, DIRECTV NOW, or a digital antenna.
Watch ABC Online with Sling TV
ABC is offered on Sling TV; however, it is only available in select markets. These locations include:
- San Francisco
Despite these restrictions, Sling is still the best option because sporting events such as basketball also air on ESPN3, which is offered by Sling. There is no contract with Sling TV and you can get ABC with Sling’s Broadcast Extra Package. This is a $5/mo add-on to their inexpensive basic streaming package which costs $20/mo. Sling works with a variety of devices such as Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, and more.
Watch ABC Online with PlayStation Vue
One option to view championship basketball is PlayStation Vue. Broadcast networks, such as ABC, are only available in select markets. Vue’s subscription is more expensive than competitors such as Sling at $30 per month, or $40 per month in markets with live local channels. However, much like other services it works with almost any streaming platform such as iOS, Roku, PlayStation consoles, and more.
Watch with DIRECTV NOW
DIRECTV NOW is a new streaming service from DIRECTV. You can watch live ABC shows at home on your television or on-the-go smart device. This means you will also be able to stream the NBA Finals. DIRECTV NOW offers coverage of ABC nationwide but you will need to jump through a few hoops. ABC sporting events also air on ESPN3, which DIRECTV NOW allows you to watch via the WatchESPN App. DIRECTV NOW can be streamed using Apple TV, Chromecast, etc.
Watch ABC with a Digital Antenna
The simplest option for cord cutters is to use a digital antenna. If you live within range of the signal you can use the antenna for over-the-air television to pick up any of the broadcast networks in your area. Antennas have come a long way over the years and have greatly improved signal quality. They are also relatively inexpensive and easy to install.
