First airing in June of 2014, AMC has released three 10-episode seasons to date. Starring Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, and Mackenzie Davis, the story focuses around the computer renaissance of the 1980s. Eventually venturing into the creation and popularization of the Internet, the show takes place initially in Dallas-Fort Worth, and eventually moving to San Francisco, or better known as the Silicon Valley. Centering around the three main characters, they attempt to exploit a defect in the popular IBM computer and enter the tech market. The main character, Joe MacMillan, switches from his career as an executive with the computing giant IBM, and instead moves to a smaller company. MacMillan recruits two computer engineers, both at some risk, to hopefully take advantage of this flaw.

Nominated for a handful of awards, this up-and-coming series has seen mostly positive reviews since its inception. Embracing the trend of the tech-style genre, it draws comparisons to shows such as Silicon Valley, Mr. Robot, and the fictionalized bio-pic film Steve Jobs. As of late 2016, it was announced that Halt and Catch Fire will be renewed for its fourth, and final season. It seems as though they will continue to chronicle the world wide web revolution.
